On May 13-16, 2024, group members attended International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC) 2024 in New Orleans, US. Dr. Rengyu Yue made a poster presentation entitled “Exploring the Performance and Mechanisms of Green Nanomaterials-based Fluids for Shoreline Oil Spill Response” and Ms. Huifang Bi made an oral presentation entitled “Advancing Spill Response in Coastal Regions through the Use of the Functionalized Coating for Oiling Prevention”. They also discussed the research and collaboration with other conference participants.
On May 11-13, 2024, Xuelin Tian attended the CUE 2024 – Applied Energy Symposium and Forum: Low-Carbon Cities and Urban Energy Systems in Shenzhen, China. She made the presentation entitled “Exploring Clean Energy’s Impact on Decarbonizing Electricity, Transportation, and Heating by 2050: A Meta-Analysis”. She also discussed the research and collaboration with other conference participants.
Xuelin Tian was recently awarded FRQNT Merit scholarship program for foreign students (PBEEE). The objective of the Merit Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (PBEEE) is to support the internationalization of research activities in Québec’s institutions of higher education, to attract top foreign researchers and students, and to promote international recognition of Québec universities and College Centres for the Transfer of Technologies (CCTT).

He Peng and Xuelin Tian were recently awarded FRQNT-B2X Bourses de doctorat en recherche. In the afternoon of May 6, 2023, Ms. Rezvan Iravani successfully passed her PhD oral comprehensive exam. The title of her exam report is “Environmental Protection of Shorelines in Canadian Indigenous Communities”. Her profound knowledge and excellent presentation helped her win a good evaluation from the external examiner, Dr. Hang Xu, and other examining committee members (Drs. Zhi Chen, Jaehoon Hwang, and Chunjiang An).
In the morning of May 6, 2024, Ms. Huifang Bi successfully passed her PhD research proposal exam. The title of her proposal is “Exploration of green washing agents for shoreline cleanup after oil spills”. Her profound knowledge and excellent presentation helped her win a good evaluation from the external examiner, Dr. Nhat Truong Nguyen, and other examining committee members (Drs. Fuzhan Nasiri, Zhi Chen, Catherine Mulligan, and Chunjiang An).
