2022 International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC) was successfully held

The 2022 International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC) was held on October 4-7, 2022, in Halifax, Canada. As a hybrid event, the virtual sessions of IOSSC were conducted on October 13 and 14, 2022. This conference was co-hosted by the Multi-Partner Research Initiative of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), Industry Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC), and Concordia University. This joint conference with ITAC’s annual meeting was a huge success with over 250 in-person attendees (and another 150+ virtually) from around the world sharing their latest research in the field of oil spill science including spill prevention, contingency planning, and environmental rehabilitation. The conference provided a platform for professionals, scholars and students from the oil spill response community, government, industry, and academia to work together to deal with the challenges in the field of oil spill response.

Group members attended IOSSC 2022

On October 4-7, 2022, group members attended 2022 International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC) in Halifax, Canada. Rengyu Yue, Zheng Wang, Zhikun Chen, Qi Feng, and Huifang Bi made the presentations entitled “A pH-Responsive Protein Surface Washing Fluid for Oil Cleanup”, “Effect of Nanobubbles on the Fate and Transport of Oil Spill”, “Use of a Green Complex Dispersion in Oiled Sand Washing”, “Exploring the Effects of Substrate Mineral Fines on Oil Translocation in the Shoreline Environment”, and “Investigation into a Calcium Alginate-Cellulose Nanocrystal-Based Coating for Shoreline Cleanup”, respectively. They also discussed the research and collaboration with other conference participants.
