Dr. An recently led a special issue titled “Environmental Challenges in Indigenous Communities: New Perspectives and Solutions” in Environmental Research Communications. This special issue seeks to advance understanding of the environmental challenges Indigenous communities face while highlighting their vital contributions to sustainability, resilience, and environmental governance. By integrating Indigenous knowledge with contemporary scientific research, this collection aims to generate innovative, community-driven solutions to pressing ecological and social problems. A critical aspect of this issue is to bridge disciplinary gaps, fostering collaboration between Indigenous scholars, policymakers, scientists, and environmental practitioners. Recognizing Indigenous voices as central to environmental discourse is not only an ethical imperative but also a necessary step toward developing equitable and inclusive environmental policies.
